About
Short Bio
I completed a BSc in Mathematical Physics with a minor in Pure Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, and afterwards a MSc in Theoretical Physics at the University of Helsinki. During my master’s studies I gained an interest in the field of inverse problems – especially when applied to medical imaging. I began my PhD in Medical Imaging in 2018 to investigate ultrasound tomography of the breast using novel pyroelectric ultrasound sensors.
Current Research
I am currently researching ultrasound tomography of the breast using novel pyroelectric ultrasound sensors for data acquisition.
The first step in this research has been the development of a physical model for pyroelectric ultrasound sensors, which is able to simulate the voltage response for arbitrary incoming acoustic fields.
The next steps involve the development and implementation of a full wave inversion scheme using the pyroelectric ultrasound sensor model. I am also investigating how the pyroelectric and piezoelectric sensor data differ, and whether they can be combined for improved reconstructions of attenuation and sound speed profiles.
